Samick Predator Recurve Bow

RecurveBows

Samick Predator Recurve BowI just received my Samick Predator recurve bow from an order I placed on Ebay a couple weeks ago. I’ve had a chance to play around with it and I’m pretty happy!

The first initial shots felt really different to me being used to shooting my Martin Savanna Longbow day in and day out. The first thing I noticed was the limb movement. It’s hard to explain but on this Predator recurve all I call say for a lack of a better term, is that I noticed when I shot.

With my longbow, I just shoot and then the arrow is in the target. When I shoot the Samick Predator recurve, I notice things. Stuff like limbs moving, the noise of the bow, the acceleration of the arrow and I even seem to track the arrow into the target more with my eyes. Of course, all this stuff is more to do with switching from shooting a long bow to shooting a recurve but still bears mentioning.

About the actual Samick Predator recurve bow itself. I think it’s a pretty sharp looking bow. The handle is a little blockish compared to my buddies handmade custom but such is the way of things generally speaking any way. The bow shoots great, right out the box. I set my nock point took it out to the back yard and was on target right away.

This Samick Predator recurve that I ordered cost around $130 and is a #60 bow. It is a take down and putting the limbs on takes only two easy seconds with an allen key. The string it comes with seems a little thick and I don’t know if that is the case or it just appears thick compared to my longbow. I do know that the nocks on my arrow almost need to be forced onto the string a little to get it all the way into the groove. If anyone can share some insight to their experiences, that would be great.

So in the final evaluation, the Samick Predator recurve bow comes great out of the box, shoots straight, is easy to put together, feels great in the hand if a little bit bulky in the riser. For the money I paid, I am extremely happy with the bow for those days when I want a little extra punch over my #55 longbow or need the advantages of a takedown to travel with or simply a back up bow.

Next review will be the PSE King Fisher.
