Welcome to usedrecurvebowsforsale.com. We’ll cover everything about recurve bows on this site and not just used recurve bows for sale but new ones and all the variations.
First A Little About What A Recurve Bow Is:
A recurve bow is a bow that has bow tips that curve away from the archer when the bow is in the unstrung state. Further to that, the string on a recurve will touch the tips unlike a long bow that does not when it it stung.
The arrow performance reason for a recurve bows popularity is that the recurved tips store more energy than a longbow and so put more cast behind the arrow. As far as bow hunting goes, a recurve bow has shorter limbs which obviously make bush bashing or even shooting from horseback much easier. Shooting from blinds on low positions such as kneeling (without canting the bow) are a little easier as well. A possible downside to the recurve for the hunter though is increased string noise. Depends where your priorities are as with anything else.
The more modern recurve bows tend to be made of composite materials in laminated forms. The materials and glues are all waterproof allowing them to be used in almost any climate. Back when most of the glues and sealers were animal based, recurve bows had to be specially taken care of in wetter climates.
